1. Who is responsible
WordDate is developed and operated by 55 Digital, a sole trader business. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” mean 55 Digital. We are the controller of the personal information we use to operate WordDate and handle enquiries.
For privacy questions or requests, email support@55digital.net.
2. Your documents and the Mac app
WordDate reads and changes supported document date properties locally on your Mac. We do not receive your document contents, filenames, file paths or document dates through the date-editing process. The website’s animated demonstration uses an example document and does not access your files.
If you choose to send us a document or screenshot for support, we will receive what you send. Please use a sample file with sensitive information removed where possible.
Software-update checks, when enabled in a release build, contact the update host and involve technical request information such as your IP address and app version. These requests do not include your document contents. Update checks are not connected in the current preview build.
3. Information we handle
- Website requests. Our hosting provider, Vercel, processes technical information needed to deliver and protect the website, such as IP addresses, requested pages, request times and browser or device information.
- Support messages. If you email us, we receive your email address, any name you provide and the contents of your message, including any attachments you choose to send.
- Purchases, once available. Stripe will process payment and billing information. We expect to receive the information needed to administer your purchase, such as your contact details, order reference, plan, payment status and limited payment-method details. Payment card details will be entered through Stripe; we will not store full card numbers or security codes.
4. Why we use information
We use website request information to deliver pages, investigate errors and prevent misuse. We use correspondence to answer your questions, resolve problems and keep a record of support. When purchases become available, we will use order information to deliver your licence, administer payments and renewals, provide service messages and handle refunds.
We also keep information where needed for accounting, tax, fraud prevention or a legal claim. We do not sell personal information or use document contents for advertising or AI training.
5. Our lawful bases
- Contract: responding to a purchase enquiry and, once sales open, fulfilling an order, administering a licence and providing related support.
- Legitimate interests: keeping the website reliable and secure, answering general enquiries and resolving problems, while taking account of your privacy rights.
- Legal obligations: retaining records or providing information where the law requires it.
- Consent: where required for any optional marketing or optional tracking introduced in future. You can withdraw that consent by contacting us; withdrawal does not affect earlier lawful use.
6. Service providers and sharing
Vercel provides website hosting. Our email service providers handle support correspondence. Stripe will provide payment processing when checkout is connected. We share only the information needed for the relevant service, and may also disclose information to professional advisers or authorities where necessary to meet legal obligations or protect legal rights.
Read the Vercel privacy notice and Stripe privacy policy for their own processing, security and international-transfer information. Stripe may act as an independent controller for activities such as fraud prevention and meeting its legal obligations.
There is no customer-account or licence database connected to the current website preview. We will explain any additional data collection when introducing those features.
7. Processing outside the UK
Service providers may process information outside the UK, including in the United States. Vercel and Stripe describe reliance on the UK extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and contractual safeguards in their linked privacy information. The mechanism used depends on the provider, recipient and transfer; an applicable adequacy decision or other lawful safeguard is required for restricted transfers. Contact support@55digital.net for details of the safeguards applicable to your information or to request a copy.
8. How long information is kept
We keep support correspondence for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any related complaint or claim. Technical logs are retained according to the hosting service’s operational and security settings. When sales begin, purchase records will be retained for the applicable accounting and tax periods and, where necessary, to resolve disputes.
The relevant purpose, legal record-keeping requirements and whether a dispute remains open determine retention. Information that is no longer needed is deleted or anonymised. You can ask us about the retention of a particular record at support@55digital.net.
10. Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, you can request access to your personal information, correction, deletion, restriction of processing or a portable copy. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
You can object to processing based on our legitimate interests. Email support@55digital.net to exercise a right. We may need to confirm your identity and will respond within the applicable legal timeframe, normally one month. Some rights have exceptions, such as where we must retain tax records.
You do not need to supply personal information to read the website. If you do not provide the details needed for an enquiry or purchase, we may be unable to answer it or fulfil the order. We do not make solely automated decisions with legal or similarly significant effects about you; Stripe’s own fraud-prevention processing is described in its policy.
You can raise a concern with us at support@55digital.net and can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office, or your local data-protection authority where applicable.
11. Changes and contact
We will update this page when our practices change and revise the date above. Material new uses of personal information will be explained before they begin. For any question about this policy, contact 55 Digital at support@55digital.net.
